Value chain analysis of urban gardening, citrus, and bee beekeeping focusing on climate smart agriculture adaption capacity amongst smallholder farmers

Development of a stakeholder and resource mapping: (appx 30-40 stakeholders) a list and role of relevant regional and national stakeholders; key players in the Ag-tech sector; deep dives on core entities (appx 25% entities) and high-level review of additional 5-10 stakeholders, including indicative interconnectedness of stakeholders and map of key interactions.

Agri Enterprises conducted a research assignment with members of Agri SA, as well as non-members in the agricultural industry. The assignment approach was to reference climate smart agricultural successes in South Africa, cross reference these with small holder farmers, and later perform counterpart matching.

An evaluation and synopsis of South Africa’s agri-tech landscape was conducted using in-house desktop analysis, supplemented by consultation with industry agri-tech leaders.

The final output was direct counterpart matchmaking, as well as an insightful overview of the south African climate, agricultural, and agri-tech landscape.
